Why the old should work hard when they are young

Living in Singapore has always been a very interesting destination even though sometimes you just cannot understand why does it cost so much just to have a bowl of noodle, getting your nails done, having a hair cut, having the same bowl of noodle cost so much different just because your in a restaurant, hotels (especially grant hyatt), and in my office. But that's not the point of my story.
I touch on a very very important issue which involves everyone doesn't matter if your young, adult, or old(especially the old, this news might be irrelevant to you now. You might not even know what is a blog) Why the old should work hard when they are young? With the age of retirement being push even further now at 67. You might get to enjoy your retirement for another 33 years if you make it. But what if?? what if you don't make it. This might be a harsh statement. But it's true. i've seen alot of things in the news that makes me have goose bump after knowing that this might happen to me one day.

                                                        Behold exhibit A

This is what your typical day will be like staring at the floor and thinking the same thing you think everyday over and over again. I see them everyday.

Exhibit B

This is what you will see when you have friends and supporting foes who is just there to brighten up your days when your not staring at the floor or looking into a blank space.

Exhibit C

This is another example of good companion ship which you just can have when you retire and spend some time training your brain. Mahjong is also one of the favourite games among others.

Exhibit D

Now here is what happen when you are a nomad at this age. you move around in bags of plastic, and inside is fill with tissue papers most of the time for sale.

Exhibit E

Now we all know that when you are young, you just want to be in and join some gang and stuff and hit it high with it. Pai kia hormones always takes over because you feel you are young and dangerous.

On a very far fetch related issue with the above. Now i'm sure you you have taken the MRT and bus with similar signs as below to give up your seats to those who needs the seats. Now i'm not saying you should not give up your seats. I'm just saying, if the system works well there is no need for such signs to be there in the first place. That would be covered in another blog in the future once i have the right figures and statistic. I believe tackling the problem at the root are the best solution and this is the very surface of the problem (i don't think there is anyway of getting statistic on this one as there definitely a lot of counter suggestion to anything presented.)

Non the less i sometimes get scolded myself for missing to spot the not very old enough grandpa and grandma and give up my seats to them. I have the upmost respect for all of them which includes the pregnant, the old, and the lady who is carrying a baby, child, or the disabled. But there are times when you look over your shoulder and you ask yourself "is that lady just fat or is she pregnant?" there is no dress code for the pregnant lady 3 months pregnant sometimes looks like a bump being mistaken as plump. I might be disrespecting them if i give up my seats to them and everyone is looking, and making myself looking like a half retard. After that who would be seating back again in the same seat. Then as this is Singapore that we're talking about, the stress level here is like sky high for every 8 out of 10 person here. So when i see that guy or ladies with enough white hair but doesn't seems to be old enough and they are just standing in front of you while your seated down in your seat, you look up and they look down. you ask yourself "Does this guy need a seat?" if i give up and it means disrespecting especially for ladies as this suggest that they are not in the group of aunties anymore, instead they have moved up to a privilege group in the society that suggest their age is more than 67. If it's on the bus you can still hear a verification sound of the beep, but on MRT not a chance. It all drills down to "to give or not to give".
The old should work hard when they are young so they don't have to work when they are old. If you look around there are many reason suggesting it. With everything going up except your pay check, 12 years of extra work means something, but not everything.
